In an all-new episode of NoMoreDownLow.TV, our co-hosts Janora McDuffie and Kendell Hogan introduce us to some remarkable stories on location from the 3rd Annual Los Angeles Transgender Film Festival. Segment 1 features the tragic story of a black mother who lost her son to suicide and is now out to fight the bullies.  Sirdeaner Walker tells the story of losing her son, Carl, at age eleven to suicide after being harassed at school.

Carl Hoover

Carl’s mom talks with us during a visit to Capitol Hill, where she pushed lawmakers to sign anti-bullying legislation.  We also talk exclusively to the superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District about what they are doing to make their schools a bully-free zone.

Niecy Nash

In segment 2, Sheryl Lee Ralph continues to raise awareness and money to fight HIV/AIDS in the black community with her “Divas Simply Singing” event. NoMoreDownLow.TV was on the red carpet talking to GLEE’s Amber Riley, Niecy Nash, The Voice’s Frenchie Davis, Jennifer Lewis and Flex Alexander (who lost his brother to HIV/AIDS).

Then, Merle “Conscious” Soden tells her remarkable story of going from being a homeless addict to working with Hollywood stars.  She shares her journey about being a lesbian with HIV to meeting Queen Latifah out at the basketball court and how her one-woman show is connected to Lady Gaga.

And finally, with the holidays around the corner we take a look at homeless LGBTQ youth and a group that is ensuring that they have a nice Thanksgiving.
