In his own words, Travon Free comes out of the closet as bisexual. Read his blog post here. Born and raised in Compton California, Travon Free is a comedian, actor, and writer who towers over most at 6’7. And according to his website, FREEdom Of Speech, he’s only 25 years old and has already accomplished a lot as an actor&comedian (appearing on such shows as Chelsea Lately, Tosh.0, Party Down, House, Southland), but he also is a basketball player and was a frat boy with Tau Kappa Epsilon.
He talks about his coming out process and credits seeing Michael Beckwith on Oprah as a major turning point in finding his authentic self, saying:
“He was talking about God in a way I had never heard before. The God he talked about loved me. It was as if everything he was saying was being downloaded into my soul and my spirit had begun to awaken again. I found my way into a place that was more conducive to my spiritual growth.”
I remember seeing that Oprah show and thinking that this was the first time someone was going to hear that message – that “Gay is a gift from God.” That God loves you… even if you are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. God is love. So, I had to dig it up and found it on YouTube.. please share this post!
