NoMoreDownLow.TV, will have team coverage tomorrow from the rally and celebration in West Hollywood! Stay Tuned!
Times, they are a changing!
When we first launched NoMoreDownLow.TV, back on National Coming Out Day, October 11, 2010, in Los Angeles, none of us on this staff could have imaged what a roller coaster ride we were in for. Wanda Sykes had just disclosed she was a lesbian, making her the highest profile African American in Hollywood to stand up and be counted. In fact, she was on our first show. Since that time our goal has been to profile same gender loving people of color who are open and honest and living in their truth through video segments on the web in an effort to show the black community who we really are.
For the past 2 1/2 years we have surpassed that goal as nearly 800,000 have viewed our site and YouTube channel! And if that isn’t enough, NoMoreDownLow.TV, has received a nomination from the National Association of Black Journalist for Outstanding New Media Feature Segment, competing against NPR and Huffington Post Live! This is quite an honor and we will be attending the award ceremony at the NABJ annual convention on August 3, in Orlando.
But we don’t have time to sit back on our laurels. There are so may issues to address like ENDA, the employment non-discrimination act, the plight of our Transgender sisters whose murders are going unsolved as we continue to profile same gender loving people who are making contributions to their communities and the world. And we won’t stop until there is No More Down Low.
