In an exclusive interview with NoMoreDownLow.TV, Super Bowl Champion and FOX NFL SUNDAY co-host Michael Strahan says that he believes the passing of New York’s Marriage Equality Bill and Sunday’s same sex marriages are the first steps forward to getting the African American community to accept gay marriage.
The former NFL Defensive End who spent 15-years chasing Quarterbacks says, “The passing of the Marriage Equality Bill was great. It’s hard for a lot of people who live outside of New York and Los Angeles to accept gay marriage, but eventually, the midwest and other regions are going to accept it.” The Houston native says living in New York has made him evolve in accepting all kinds of people. ” In New York, you can’t help but learn to accept people for who they are and that’s what everyone wants in life, is to be accepted for who they are. It’s just healthier as opposed to hating.”
Strahan who is engaged to Nicole Murphy recorded a video last month for the New Yorkers for Marriage Equality campaign. “We believe everyone has the right to be married, just as we do, ” they declare, romantically looking each other in the eyes.
At NoMoreDownLow, we believe that when high profile African American celebrities like Michael Strahan step forward in support of LGBTQ civil rights, we all take a “giant” step forward.
