Black History Month with a lesbian twist. Kudos to AfterEllen.com for spotlighting black lesbians that are making a splash in the world of film.
In their feature article called “Black History Month Spotlight: Queer Black women behind the camera” they profile Campbell X (pictured above) who is the “powerhouse behind her first feature film Stud Life and BlackmanVision Film Production. Campbell X is a London-based filmmaker, committed to pushing the boundaries of gender, identity, race, and aesthetics.”
Plus, this post gave us another excuse to help promote Pariah! If you haven’t heard, the movie is about “a Brooklyn teenager who juggles conflicting identities and risks friendship, heartbreak, and family in a desperate search for sexual expression.” It’s been getting so much buzz and was an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival. We’re rooting for you!
